In order to provide you with facts about what my day to day business activity cover, I’m going to give you an overview of some of my major achievements in 2014:
Projects: I’ve translated around 332 000 source words in 2014 in my main fields of expertise (governmental affairs, environment/agriculture, marketing, culture/education and international development) and I’ve also provided revising and copywriting services. You can discover some of them in the portfolio section of my website.
It’s been nearly 5 years now that I’m working on a full-time basis as a freelancer and I enjoy every minute of it. I have gained deep and extensive experience into the topics I care for and promote through my services : sustainable development, biodiversity, human rights, culture and education, foreign affairs, information technology, business intelligence, marketing, labour rights, peacebuilding, political affairs, renewable energies, etc. Of course, if you work in these areas and need my services, do not hesitate to contact me and get a free quote.
New Website: I’ve crafted this current website based on WordPress to promote my services and I hope that you’ll find all the information you need for your next linguistic project. It’s a responsive website which means you can use it on any device (tablet, mobile phone, laptop).
This WordPress theme has been designed by ShapeBoostrap and I must thank Youri for the logo and Maël Poulain for his incredible support and talent in Webdesign and UX design.
Tools:
- I’ve bought a Freelance Licence for Trados Studio 2014, a computer-aided translation (CAT) tool that I’ve been using for years and which is extremely useful for my customers when it comes to terminology consistency, quality assurance and translation budget optimization.
- I’ve followed several Webinars on MemoQ (another CAT tool) and worked with it on several projects. This gave me a more comprehensive knowledge of productivity tools and enables me to answer to my new customers’ needs.
Working Environment: This year, I’ve cofounded a Coworking Space which gave me the opportunity to meet other freelancers and work in a new setting outside from my home office. It’s been a great experience and there are so many benefits (new people, new business perspectives, new tools…) that I’ve decided to work regularly outside from home.
Membership: I’ve joined the IAPTI (International Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters) which promotes ethical practices in my profession. For a full list of theirs objectives, you can go to their website. I’m already looking forward to attending their next International Conference in Bordeaux (5-6 September)!
2014 has been an incredible year and I’m already working hard on new projects to give my customers the opportunity to communicate efficiently and increase their revenue/audience by reaching their customers in French, their native language. So, if you need to go local and translate or revise/proofread your documents, let’s start a partnership by sending me your message.
